My road to a religion was written at birth.  A very long and interesting history if I really think about it, from the perspective of my childhood mind.  Religion changed as I grew up. The lifestyle I lead is also very much different now as an adult.  I went though so many times I questioned my role in this life.  In time of trouble I start to sing a little song we all learned in church as a 5 year old.

(Sung by 5-6 year old children in my mind.)
" I am a child of god, and he has sent me here, has given me an earthly home, with parents kind and dear. Teach me guide me walk besides me help me find the way. teach me all that I must do, to live with him some day."

Some could call that a prayer, I'll always remember my innocence, spirit and faith because of that simple and understandable song that is burned into my memories.
I really adopted the belief in first, doing no harm to others.
Everyone is a child of God, treat them as such.
Good things happen when you try to do good.
Every day can be a religious moment, if you look close enough.

As of late I have been feeling very negative towards organised religion. The experiences that I have had always paint a religious attitude in a very hypocritical and damaging light. Having attended a highly christian school for most of my education I was constantly told that God would essential solve any problems I had. It was very heavy handed and I even witnessed teachers praying over a boy who broke his arm in the playground rather than give him medical attention or call for help. It would seem that most of the people I have known who are religious think of themselves as blessed since they have chosen the true god and have earned their way into heaven. There is no need to better themselves only to give insight on other less or unblessed people. This is not a generalisation just my personal experience of the religious workings around me.

I also have questions about organised religion. Currently the church I grew up in and am faithful too, is struggling what to do with the homosexual and transgender community.  It never was an issue about ten years ago.  Less of one 20 years ago, and even less of one even in the seventies.  I was never treated like a 'sinner'.  Now with the new rules , I feel like half a member of the church.  Allowed to attend but not take part in the ordinances and ritual.  Worse yet for the children of families that even apper to be homosexual, in nature.  For example two unmarried women sharing a home with children.  Those children would be concidered as children with homosexual parents, and not be allowed to be baptized.Allowed to participate but not as a member of the church.  This just feels so wrong to me.  I'm glad my children didn't have to go through that when they were young, and I took them to church, as an openly bi-sexual, divorced woman.  We were treated as a family even if I took a girlfriend with me.  Time has obviously changed in response to 'People,' not God.  People are who is responsible for organized religion and what it does, not God.

I don't feel any more negative about my religion however.  It is not the people that I believe in, it is my faith in God and his mercy, and love for me.  In the end of life I'd rather be at peace with not living it with anger that can never be resolved, about a matter that really has no reason to be an issue in the first place.  Angery people forced an issue and I feel the churches response was not appropriate.  It could be handled better.  The problem is, the leadership lives in a very isolated world.  I should know,  I live among them, and they have no idea to look at me that I'm the face of a parent that they disenfranchised.

Personally, I'm spiritual not religious. Though I was raised in a religious family, looking at the actual history there has been countless atrocities justified as being part of "Gods will" "Gods plan" blah blah blah... I subscribe to the idea of the collective conscious and that our thoughts create our reality. The law of attraction ;) I believe in universal good will, not just going to church on Sunday. Who needs to go to church? Why? the whole world is my church, my essence is my church... I don't need someone to tell me what is good and right and what is wrong. I think a lot of people confuse religion with ethics and morality. You don't need religion to have ethics and  morality and just because your ethical or moral doesn't mean your religious. "God" is within us, it is around us, it is you, it is me... we are energetic beings having a human existence and should be guided by love <3  We create our world, our existence, we exist in numerous places in numerous times in countless forms... We are all connected...

Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe I'm right... Who knows.. and who are any of us to judge ;)

I found this video, which I really liked and want to share it with all of you. It resumes the reality about religion in a simple way, for me. I wasn't sure where to post it, then I remembered this debate's thread, so here it is. (It's english, with spanish subtitles)

I am very religious and even more spiritual. God is energy much like electricity. There is positive, good, right hand of God. There is negative, bad or sinners, they sit to the left. Both are needed to keep that circuit going round. It can change ratio but stays balanced 40/60 60/40. It doesn't really matter. It will arch and go to ground, birth. That's the energy that creates life. We are all part of it. I can state example after example of this. If you've ever been part of a candle light vigil mass you'll notice the priest walks down the center isle and lights the candles on the end and they in turn light the candle of the one next to them. Same light, all one. Any candle can be snuffed out and it doesn't matter. The whole stay lite and can make more. We are like God because we are God in that sense, Scientists say they are on the verge of proving this through science.

Religion, I am Catholic, kind of. I graduated from Catholic school.Yup, I wore the blue plaid skirts and navy blue vest with white oxford shirts and blue knee high socks. I went to church everyday during lunch rather than playing on the play ground. I very much believe in the fundamentals but to say I am Catholic is a loose statement. I won't go. I avoid other so called Catholics like the plague any more. I feel like I'm surround by evilness. My Hindu family is more concerned about my spiritual well being then my Catholic family. Every practicing Catholic I know will and do say, "they (the church as in the priests and or the religion in general) fill your head with shit" as they try to phuck you, steal from you, etc. To them, practicing their religion means business contacts. I hear from them how Sundays were made for sports and all kinds of blasphemy. The current Pope signed the UN's agenda 21 in September. The priests, my uncle was phucked by them as was my brother who fell into drug and alcohol abuse until his murder. My son, if that priest doesn't get his penis out of my son's ass and continues with a very inappropriate Facebook friendship in that account they don't think anyone knows about umm.... nuff said.

Not quite sure how to reply to the ^ post.  There was a truck load of information in it.   I also have a Love/hate for my religion of birth too.  That is why I feel so conflicted in how to answer a religion question about losing Faith.   My faith was bruised by People, not the church.
After my Husband died, and my natural appearance as whore didn't play very well at church being alone.  It was acceptable for me to go to church with him, because it looked normal.  In church looking like what people consider a slut, is not at all very welcoming to insecure wives looking at me...
It a small town I live in, so most have seen me in bikini's NONE dare wear.  That alone makes me an outcast, much to their eternal dismay.  Once judgment is gone from the mortal existence they had,  Shame will replace the hate they had for me.  I already forgive them,  but will they eventually forgive themselves once every truth in the universe is known to them. [?]   They hated and dismissed a widow, because I didn't fit the stereo-type.  I find it telling that when I was 13, I took a widow on as a friend because she lost her husband and I saw how lonely she was.  I chose to sit with her as a child.   None sit with me as an adult now,  but I bless the church anyways.  The people can go to hell for all I care about selfish people not trying to improve themselves.  If they can't even understand the Bible they thump on.

I'm very attractive and if I walk into a church alone, I may explode into ashes and sack-cloth.  I'm not sure why this is,  but everyone stops and there is audible hushed whispers, like Satan himself graced the chalice with my menstrual blood.   They really are not people like me, even though I live a humble life too, just like them.   I'm not judgmental. I also don't care if I don't fit into the Jesus cult of suffering.  God didn't make his children to suffer, but to find love and acceptance and salvation by the blood of Christ for all of humanity.  Religious people seem to forget that, in closing the community of religion to people who are different in soul, but same in faith.  I actually pity most religious people, because they must hate trampy looking people because the Bible told them so [?]  It's not true, but discrimination is a very serious problem in organized religions and all people.

So I find it very sad for many religious people who disregard me, because I may go to church with a colorful dress.  Fashion is how I celebrate God's gift to me.
Are the Fattened Cow's in the Pew's respecting the body God gave them?
They feel it righteous to judge me for going to church in a gorgeous dress, I celebrate God while wearing...
I ask, "are you worried as much about your own soul, as you are about mine?"
I'm not worried, and I'll stand Naked before GOD, and admit I did the best I could to save as many of his children as I could.
Confession is a silly concept to me,  and while I may have evil thought's,  I am not overtly a sinner.   My clothes may say I am, but it doesn't mean my soul is.  Religious people do judge outward appearance, and they don't even realize it.  They say they are accepting, but it is out of the element for them to actually be around someone like me.  A widow, who doesn't look like one.

I went to a church of my same religion in another State last year.  I asked someone after the first hour lesson where my next class was.  They sent me to a room with 17 year old girls,  and I ended up taking over the lesson from the teacher because they were talking about marriage, and I was the only one with actual knowledge of the subject.  It rather upset me, just because  you sort of EXPECT GOD to know you.  I felt good being a guest teacher for the young ladies, too.   None even imagined I was a 40 year old, and saw me as a 'peer' and so my lesson to them, meant much more than if a priest had given the lesson to the girls. God sent me to that class room that day as his servant.

I am an Ordained Pastor of the National Christian Church.  I took the test's just for fun and never even studied anything but the Bible on my own time as a child.  It is not even my religion of birth but I wanted the challenge to see if I could do it, in a protestant religion.  I discovered something great in stepping outside of my faith.
God is ONE with the individual.  He is there for everyone,  If they listen to the goodness inside of themselves and seek to serve others to find peace and God's Love in service to others.
Heaven can wait, till school is in recess.  God will sort the wheat from the chaff, later.

Here is a ship with thousands of container with real informations in it.
Religion can mean (as a word in Latin language) direction
is it good or bad still open!
but it can also be translated as a curse

we can find that two meanings already in Moses books
and that is said about the people of Israel

I ve learned the Jesus is the end of all religion
(Have i read that in books of fundamentalistic christians?)
This wiord fundamental (some people are really proud to be fundamental)
has for me a very bitter taste (revelations: the water became bitter)
and has become very dangerous because of the appearance of other fundamentalist
who cannot await to cut of your and mine head or to pulverize us with a nailbomb

all these flowers of evil have highpriest, have kinfd of organisation and have followers
who (Sorry) but are not allowed to be FREETHINKERS

even in my orthodox church(The Russian President is also orthodox)
and this cannot easy be washed away nor by Conversion to other religions,
neither by sin (they only would call me heretic, because i have made my peace
with catholics- "protestanrs (Whatever)- muslima, hindu -bindoo- Tao-Bhuddies)
because when someone has the spirit in her/his soul you can see, hear, smell and taste it
silence is golden and i said already enough!

I'm agnostic but with spiritualist beliefs. I believe every religion has values and ideas that appeal to me but as does many scientific theories. I don't believe I can really identify myself with a single religion so I try to be respectful of them all.
