Hello.

I am, as most of you, a returning Miss Bimbo player. I had not logged in for years, and never did follow the old forums, but since this new game focuses on it as a medium for debating entry-level politics (which appeals to me), I've been reading all the topics in the Senate. In some posts here, I've noticed the mention of an incident referred as "Occupy Bimbolands", which piqued my interest. Who'd have thought the Miss Bimbo community had in itself the ingredients for so much intrigue? Not me.

So... Would anyone who witnessed the aforementioned episode kindly explain it to me in detail?
Causes, consequences, et cetera.

I have been receiving some private messages about the case, but I really feel it is a subject of great interest to the open community - even if only as a cautionary tale or whatever. History must be studied for future reference, and I believe refusing to talk about it just makes the past bigger. That's why we constantly denounce the crimes perpetuated by the third reich instead of omitting them from the books.

OB is a forum of girls who met on the old site and gathered there to talk to each other outside of the drama of the forum and complain about the bugs and issues and things we felt should have been changed in the game. Nothing more, nothing less. Honestly, a topic about how much butter you'd put on toast gets more conversation than the old site or this one.

That petition sums up, half of the argument.  The details of the matter really is much deeper, and actually very political in nature.  The whole story would take pages to explain, so just a few bullet points.

Players took upon themselves to begin to dictate what a private owner should do with his property. Point #1 in the petition advocates Censorship, of the owner.( censorship of everyone and anyone.) He rebelled, and really got a bad attitude about the whole deal. He gave up, and just neglected the game, but thought about it, and came up with the concept of Bimbolands where the Prime Bimbo is Elected, and for the most part is supposed to deal with the wrath of the Bimbo's instead of him.  He has personally told me he cares so little if the Bimbo's self-destruct because there is Elections to fix it for him.  He really will ignore any e-mails sent to him, except by a very select few players.(read maybe, reply not likely) Elections are much more important than I think the players really realize, if a Republic is to actually progress.  Occupy Bimbolands, actually put up a candidate against me, in the last Election on Miss Bimbo.  They won the popular Election by complaining about the game constantly. No way to fix it.  The candidate immediately hacked the game to death, and that was the end of Miss Bimbo.  I came in second place because there was still a very large population of older and more mature players who voted, but not enough to stop the inevitable hate Miss bimbo campaign Occupy waged using social media, and off-site forums. All one way conversations.  

Purchasing the site, was just a made up point to make a poor argument sound good for a petition. I was also approached at this time to buy Miss Bimbo by Chris, and received his price.
 Both of us entertained the offer, however the player in question only made her offer in a single sentence, written in a forum to me.  Not exactly a very serious offer, now is it. However people take forums so seriously due to the nature of how Facebook is so ingrained in our lives, that Occupy Bimbolands began to make it into a type of fantasy world where they owned the game and could snap their fingers and it would be done. One member said, she wanted to buy it, and thus it became a point for them to use in hating and eventually hacking Miss Bimbo to death.  It went viral, and it all started because they chose to hate the owner of the game for not doing what they wanted him to do.

Doesn't that sound slightly familiar?

  If we are not careful it can happen again, and already has tried to.  I had to shut down Akra in the past, and I did that just as a player using the freedom of speech too.  When people need to turn to hate speech and incite riots to win an argument, they have no place in a Republic.  People react to rashly, far to often over very trivial things when covered in the anonymity of the internet. People often lose perspective and forget that Bimboland's and it's forum is a game with real players with feelings that are often very fragile.  Now imagine a group that would actually do that to it's OWN game because that was Occupy Bimbolands, and Akra was a founding member.  Who would she abuse next?  You? Me? Anyone?   It got so bad, they would mock people for using a comma incorrectly, if they were losing an argument or a debate.

I remember all the drama but I tended to avoid it all and just ignored the forums and a lot of what was going on. I instead enjoyed the other parts of the site, the mini story, shop street, the mini games and quests....Googled things randomly.... which is where I came across the petition and boards... never got involved or paid a whole lot of attention. I can see some parallels though ;)

Any Ximbo citizen can become Prime Ximbo using the democratic process. Its a 2 stage process from Senator>Prime Ximbo. All Ximbo xitizens can vote in general elections but in order to put themselves forward to become Prime Ximbo/a minister they must first become a Ximbo senator.

Can I become Prime Ximbo more than once?
Yes ­ a Ximbo can hold the position of Prime Ximbo for 6 terms max.

How often do elections take place?
The Fashionable Republic of Ximboland holds elections every 3 months for Prime Ximbo and every 3 months for State Ministers.

What is the treasury/ministers/Prime Ximbos salary?
The treasury/salary is the bank account of The Fashionable Republic of Ximboland. This figure is transferred to the paypal account of the Prime Ximbo at the end of their 3 month term in charge.

The treasury is funded by the Ximbo xenators.
A percentage (33%) of the money paid by Ximbo xenators via Paypal is transferred into the Ximbo treasury. The rest is used for further Ximboland development.
